Since there are so many special ceremonies in Sikh weddings, we decided to post them separately to give you a beter insight instead of clumping them into one massive post.  To view Aman’s Mayian and Sangeet click here and here. 

For the Mayian ceremony, the Groom sits on a wooden plank called patri while the female relatives hold a red cloth over his head.  Yellow paste made of tumeric, flour and mustard oil is rubbed on his face, arms and legs.  What follows is an evening of singing and dancing – The Sangeet. During the Jaggo ceremony, family members dance with copper vessels called gaffers,  filled with mustard oil and held above theirs heads And of course there are always plenty of yummy treats prepared especially for the occasion
